A team from Newfoundland is scheduled to visit the Audit Office here this week to review the current status of the Value for Money (VFM) audits in progress and provide assistance where necessary to ensure that these audits are effective and tailored to meet local needs.

This follows a twinning arrangement between the Audit Office of Guyana and the Audit Office of Newfoundland and Labrador which was established by the Canadian Comprehensive Auditing Foundation (CCAF-FCVI) to provide training and practical guidance in the execution of VFM audits, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.

In keeping with this arrangement, GINA said, Auditor General of Newfoundland and Labrador Audit Office, John Noseworthy, along with one of his directors,  David  White, will be visiting Guyana between today and Friday.

Guyana’s Audit Office last October benefited from a VFM workshop hosted by the Canadian Comprehensive Audit Foundation (CCAF) which included employers of the Auditor General’s office as well as participants from Barbados, Argentina, Costa Rica and St. Lucia who received training.

The training was part of the CCAF International Fellowship Programme aimed at strengthening and enhancing public sector audits by practice of comprehensive auditing, GINA added.
