Remember the reason for Easter – Edghill

Bishop Juan Edghill is urging the public to remember the reason for Easter and allow it to inform their lives even as they participate in family celebrations and kite-flying this weekend.

In a press release he said the meaning of this special holiday seems to have become lost in commercial enterprise. In addition, life can unfold hard challenges from time to time but the “glorious message of Easter, Jesus, the resurrection and new life” offers hope in the face of despair and love triumphing over hatred and death which strengthens and shows man that new beginnings are possible, the release said.

Christians worldwide observe this season in the most traditional way in remembrance of the “atoning sacrifice of our redeemer, the forgiveness of sins and the reconciliation of God with man.”

Edghill urges citizens to let the example of Jesus empower them to live better lives, to unite and embrace each other and to cultivate virtues such as kindness and meekness.
