Hundreds turn out for kite-flying fun

The sun was out and so were the people. Hundreds turned out at the National Park, the seawall and other open spaces to fly their kites and picnic during the Easter Monday holiday yesterday.

The adults that could…fly a kite took the opportunity to do so at the National Park yesterday.

Colour filled the skies and several locations, as the long holiday weekend drew to a close. Persons turned out in their numbers and the weather cooperated, with the sun shining brightly all day long. Enthusiasm and delight as well as food abounded as persons met friends and relatives.

The cloudless skies were transformed into fields of flowers of all shapes, sizes and colours. The National Park, a popular place over the years for persons to gather to fly their kites, was filled and hundreds more were on the seawall and at the Botanical Gardens. The kite flying was not only for the children as adults flew their kites as well.

Now you see it, now you don’t. This young lady had one of the tiniest kites to send to the skies over the National Park.

The larger kites of past years were not as evident this year but there were quite a few unusual creations.

Up, Up and… This teen also got into the fun at the National Park yesterday.
