Prashad Nagar man shot, car stolen

A Prashad Nagar resident was shot in his abdomen early yesterday morning by a gunman who subsequently drove off with his motor car containing some $1.3M.

Winston Andrews, 60 of Omai Street, is in a critical but stable condition in the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Hospital.

Police said yesterday that they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 12:30 am at Omai Street, Prashad Nagar, during which Andrews, was attacked and robbed by a man armed with a handgun. He was shot in the right side during the robbery, a release added.

Investigations have so far revealed that Andrews was opening the gate to his residence, when he was confronted by the armed man who shot him and drove away with his Toyota Carina AT 192 motor vehicle PKK 474 which reportedly had $1.3 million inside.

Three .45 rounds were recovered at the scene by the police.

This newspaper was told by a senior police official yesterday that the stolen vehicle had not yet been recovered nor has a suspect been nabbed.

Police investigations are continuing.
