Leader of the PNCR, Robert Corbin, has been transferred to the Caribbean Heart Institute (CHI) where he is said to be in a stable condition one day after he drove himself to a city hospital following pains in his chest.

Corbin’s brother Charles yesterday told Stabroek News that the 61-year-old party leader has been transferred to the institute, located at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), from the Woodlands Hospital.

“He is up and speaking and he is stable,” was how Charles described Corbin’s condition yesterday.

Asked to confirm reports that Corbin would be going overseas for further treatment his brother said “All I could say at this time is that his physicians overseas have expressed an interest in seeing him.”

Corbin drove himself to Woodlands on Saturday morning after experiencing discomfort in his chest and while it was initially thought he suffered a heart attack, tests run by the hospital reportedly proved otherwise.

The PNCR in a brief statement on Saturday said that Corbin was hospitalised after complaining of feeling unwell. It stated that his condition was being evaluated to determine treatment options.
