LIMA (Reuters) – Peru has granted political asylum to Venezuelan opposition leader Manuel Rosales, Peru’s foreign minister said yesterday, in a move that could strain relations with Venezuela’s leftist President Hugo Chavez.
Rosales, a former presidential candidate, surfaced in Peru last week after running away from corruption allegations in Venezuela that he says were politically motivated by allies of Chavez.
