Naiomi Singh, the 20-year-old Morasi resident found dead behind her house last Friday, died from shock and hemorrhage due to an incised wound on her neck, police said.

According to a police press release issued last evening, the post-mortem examination was performed by Dr. V. Brijmohan.
Meanwhile, a police source has reliably informed this newspaper that the murder suspect is expected be taken before the Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. The man, the source said, will be read the capital charge of murder.

Singh’s murder has stunned the small riverain village of about sixty residents. Singh was discovered by her father, Mohan Singh, who was forced to fish her body from a drain, where it was covered by a thin layer of slushy mud.

Police, in a press statement issued on the evening of May 2, said they were investigating the suspected murder.  The woman, according to the police, was reportedly home alone that day. Her father returned home and discovered her missing; a search was conducted and Naiomi’s body was discovered at approximately 9 pm.
