Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Thursday remanded to prison two teenagers and a man accused of two separate incidents of armed robbery.

Andy Edwards, 17, of Albouystown and Julian Knights, 18, of 154 Cooper Street, Albouystown both pleaded not guilty to the charge when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Edwards and Knights are accused of robbing Denise Motai of a cellular phone, a gold ring, a pair of gold earrings, a quantity of cash and reading glasses last Monday. The total value of the items is $107,000.

Police Prosecutor Munilall Seetaram objected to the bail application for the teens on the grounds that they are not known to police and may not return to court.

They were ordered to return to court on Friday.
Meanwhile, Michael Cameron, of Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara also pleaded not guilty to a similar charge. Cameron denied that he used a knife to rob George Buckley of a gold chain valued $50,000, on March 31.

His attorney Adrian Thompson told the court that an identification parade had not been conducted and as such his client was never positively identified as the person who had committed the act. He said despite this, police held Cameron when he was expected to be released. Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith objected to the bail application on the grounds of the prevalence of the offence. She also told the court that Cameron had been previously charged with another theft.

Thompson then said that his client had pleaded guilty to that charge and that he did not waste court’s time.
Cameron was also ordered to return to court on Friday.
