Nine hurt in Vryheid’s Lust crash

Nine persons were injured last night when a car collided with a minibus at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara.

An unidentified man, who was a passenger in motor car HB 1735, sustained severe injuries and was up to last night receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC). The car’s driver, of Forshaw Street, was taken into police custody.

Injured are Abigail Wilson, 32, of Nabaclis; Mark Glasgow, 42, of Victoria; Adel Grffith, 22, of Melanie; Candacy Bacchus, 26, of Castello Housing Scheme; Andre Dundas, 16, of Ann’s Grove; Neil Evans, 23, of Ann’s Grove; and driver of minibus BKK 2146 Leon Austin. They were rushed to GPHC, treated and released.

Reports are that BKK 2146 was proceeding east along the Vryheid’s Lust Public Road at approximately 8.30pm; as it approached an intersection at the road HB 1735 proceeding from a southern street slammed into the front of the bus.
