Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a labourer at Mabura. In a press release police said that on Monday last 31-year-old Tony Cooper of the Timehri Docks, was working at Seaballi backdam, Mabura when an excavator struck a tree causing a branch to break off and fall, striking Cooper on his head.

The man was admitted to the Mackenzie Hospital but he later succumbed to his injuries.
