Construction worker chopped

A 58-year-old construction worker is nursing chop wounds to his right hand and other parts of his body after he was attacked yesterday morning in Kingston.

Charles Winston Sooklall of Hopetown, West Coast Berbice told Stabroek News yesterday that he was attacked by a young man at his workplace in Kingston following an argument.

He said he had admonished the man for “talking to his niece” following which the man suddenly picked up a cutlass and attacked him, cutting him on his right hand after he attempted to defend himself.

Sooklall, who spoke to this newspaper at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he went to seek medical attention, said his assailant is a “well- known troublemaker”.

The man also sustained a cut to the left side of his face during the incident which he reported to the police yesterday.
