Internationally renowned Guyanese musician Dave Martins committed to further promoting Guyana on the international scene, when he paid a courtesy call on Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Manniram Prashad recently.

According to a press release, Martins made this commitment to Prashad on the heels of an ‘Events and Entertainment Forum’ for hoteliers, entertainers, promoters, resort owners, tour operators and others, convened by President Bharrat Jagdeo.

Jagdeo had challenged these stakeholders to brainstorm on a number of events that can be held throughout the year to boost tourism.

Martins made several suggestions about how Guyana can remarket itself through a series of entertainment events.

The release also said he will continue to work closely with the ministry to boost the said activities during the peak tourist season.

Prashad extended gratitude to Martins for his input and called him “a true patriot.”
