Pig farmer refused bail over 2005 murder

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday remanded to prison a pig farmer when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court charged with the 2005 murder of Roy Talbot.

Twenty-three-year-old Troy Bollers of Lot 137 Friendship, Buxton, East Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder. It is alleged that between November 3 and 4, 2005 he murdered Talbot.

Bollers who stood in handcuffs in the dock of the court said, “Dem [police] beat me” when asked by the magistrate if he wished to say anything.

The magistrate subsequently ordered that he be remanded to prison and transferred the case to the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court for May 28.
