Saints beat Covent Garden in impromptu speech contest

St Stanislaus College beat rivals Covent Garden Secondary by 21 points when competition continued on Thursday in the GBTI sponsored Inter-Secondary School Impromptu Speech contest.

According to a press release Saints scored 653 points while Covent Garden scored 632. The victors selected the topics: ‘My dream for a better capital city of Georgetown’, ‘Drinking and driving’ and ‘The one thing in the world I would most like to learn how to do is….’

Meanwhile, Covent Garden chose topics: ‘To get respect…’, ‘If I’d known my parents when they were teenagers…’ and ‘Has television become too violent?’

The judges’ panel comprised Lurine Meertins, Magda Pollard and Bernadette Persaud.
