School of the Nations and Queen’s College (QC) emerged winners in the second round matches of the GBTI impromptu speaking contest for fourth formers.

In a press release GBTI said Nations overcame Richard Ishmael Secondary by 38 points. They scored 611 points whereas Richard Ishmael scored 573. The victors selected topics: ‘All that glitters is not gold’; ‘Courage is …’ and ‘A law should be made that bans….’ Richard Ishmael chose ‘Is our climate changing?’; ‘What I like most about my school’ and ‘Video games is a waste of time.’

In the second match QC defeated a determined St Stanislaus College; scoring 686 points to Saints 652. QC selected topics: ‘To me success in life means…’; ‘The beauty of Guyana lies in …’ and ‘Good manners make life easier.’ Saints chose topics: ‘It is important that persons respect each other’; ‘Teenagers would be better off if…’ and ‘The press should not report on the private lives of politicians.’

The judges’ panel comprised Joan Kendall, Lurine Meertins and Abiola Inniss.
