Soldier knifed by partner

A 22-year-old Guyana Defence Force soldier was admitted to the Male Surgical ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital yesterday afternoon nursing a stab wound which was inflicted by his partner.

According to reports the injured rank, Harold Harley showed up at his partner’s Lot 1, Meadow Bank home yesterday morning between 1:30 and 2 am and forced his way in. There was a scuffle during which the man was stabbed.

The couple’s relationship has reportedly been experiencing turbulent times recently. When Stabroek News visited the public hospital yesterday, a confrontation ensued between Harley’s elder sister and his partner.

Harley had apparently been attacked before by the same woman with a screwdriver and an ice pick. It was also alleged that she had been abused during the relationship.

The man’s partner was taken into police custody yesterday afternoon. Harley remains in a stable condition at the public hospital.
