It is alleged that on March 28 at Georgetown, 49-year-old Ali abducted Keron Munroe. On the same day also, Ali allegedly assaulted the said Keron Munroe so as to cause him actual bodily harm.

The defendant was not required to plead to the indictable charge of abduction and pleaded not guilty to the assault charge when it was read to him.

Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram asked that bail be refused on the grounds that the offence is a serious one.

Ali was subsequently placed on bail in the sum of $250,000 for both charges and has to return to court on July 1.
