Gossai to be cremated in NY

After several viewings at the Grace Funeral Home in Brooklyn, New York the body of Sri Prakash Gossai will be cremated tomorrow afternoon.

Kirtans (singing of devotional songs) and viewing of the body will be conducted at the Funeral Home located at 607 North Conduit Blvd Brooklyn, NY 11208 from 4 pm – 10pm today. Gossai’s final rites will take place at the funeral home from 8.30 am – 11 am tomorrow. His body will be transported to his 133-11 120th Street, South Ozone Park residence and the Bhuvaneshwar Mandir at 86-06 101 Avenue for further viewing. He will be cremated at the St. Michaels Crematorium afterwards.

Gossai died early Monday morning at a hospital in Miami, Florida. He was air-dashed to the medical institution on Saturday. Last Tuesday he was admitted to the Balwant Singh Hospital after complaining of chest pains.

At the beginning of 2007 Gossai was appointed Special Assistant to President Bharrat Jagdeo. He was the founding member and president of the Bhuvaneshwar group of mandirs in the US and Guyana. Gossai was born on April 25, 1953 at Handsome Tree, Mahaica. He leaves to mourn a wife and two children.
