Dave Atherley, 39, of 167 Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, who is accused of possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking is to return to the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court on July 15 for the continuation of his trial.

Atherley is accused of having in his possession 260 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking on May 14 at Silvertown, Wismar, Linden.
After he was informed by Magistrate Ann McLennan that he is to return to court on July 15, he walked out the courtroom. He  had already left the building when the magistrate questioned why he was not in police custody for the offence.

She was informed that the matter had come up in a Georgetown court and he was placed on $250,000 bail. The defendant was subsequently called back and questioned about the bail. He reported that he had posted  the bail but did not have the receipt on him.

The clerk had no record of the bail either but Atherley was given the benefit of the doubt and ordered to take along the receipt on his next court appearance.
