Anthony Singh, the minibus conductor who was shot by a bandit on Tuesday night is in the male open ward of the Georgetown hospital after doctors removed the bullet lodged in his leg.

When Stabroek News visited Singh yesterday he was resting but his brother Shannon Singh said though doctors had successfully removed one bullet they have not been able to remove the one from his brother’s abdomen as an x-ray did not detect it. The man said, too, doctors plan to continue to observe Singh and another x-ray will be soon be done to locate the bullet. However, Shannon has said that his brother is not in severe pain and is recuperating well.

Shannon also said that the perpetrator had not been apprehended and that the family had not yet made a police report as all their energies have been centred at the hospital.
Shannon said his brother had related to him that at about 7.15 on Wednesday evening the Route 42 minibus on which he had been working as a conductor picked up a passenger outside of Agricola. The passenger later requested that the bus stop at Princes Street to allow him to disembark. When he got out of the bus the passenger demanded that Anthony give him the money in his hand. When Anthony resisted a scuffle ensued and the man fired two shots; hitting him in the left leg and abdomen.
The gunman subsequently made good his escape with the money.
