Two young men, who allegedly unlawfully assaulted a mentally challenged man, were yesterday both remanded to prison when they appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on June 18 at Georgetown, Rallot Rawley, 18, of 215 West Ruimveldt and Kenroy Sampson, 20, of 259 West Ruimveldt unlawfully assaulted the man.

The jointly charged duo pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them by the Acting Chief Magistrate.

Haley’s mother explained to the court that on the day in question, her son was forced  by the defendants  to go into a fowl pen and to take off his clothing. One of the defendants then assaulted the VC while the other videotaped the act.

It was at this  point that the matter was called to the bench and a lengthy discussion ensued.
The duo was subsequently remanded to prison until June 24.
