The Hadfield Foundation which had been a vibrant aspect of the arts scene and staged novel exhibitions and fashion shows in its heyday is closing its doors at the end of next month.

The Calabash Shoppe which is accommodated at the Hadfield Street location will also be closed. The Foundation last week notified its patrons of the imminent closure.

“We at Hadfield Foundation write to thank you for your support of our service to the artists and art lovers /appreciators/buyers since 1990. Without your constant support over the last 19 years we would not have been able to provide this enjoyable service to the community. Thanks. It is/was highly appreciated. Over the years we have had a blast together.”

The Foundation added that “Time by its very nature shapes, polishes, carves, engraves and changes us all. It is with an experiential understanding of some aspects of time and with some regret that we write to inform you that both Hadfield Foundation & Calabash Gift Shoppe shall be closing down and withdrawing its support to the art community on 31 July 2009.”

The Foundation said until closure there will be great bargains on all the shoppe’s items – fine art, jewellery, wooden products, pottery and much more.
