Woman on assault, malicious damage charge

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson granted a woman a total of $17,000 bail when she appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charges of assault and malicious damage to property.

It is alleged that on May 20 at Georgetown, Tracey Bailey, 26, of 401 ‘B’ South Sophia unlawfully and maliciously damaged one plastic container valued $5,000, the property of Nazimadeen Mohamed. Bailey is also accused of unlawfully assaulting Mohamed on the same day. She pleaded not guilty to both charges.

When given a chance to respond, Mohamed told the court that he only wanted financial compensation. The defendant however, maintained that she is innocent of the charges.

The unrepresented Bailey was subsequently placed on $7,000 bail on the assault charge and $10,000 bail on the malicious damage to property charge.

She was ordered to appear in Court Three on July 10.
