Cocaine found in airport package

Anti-drug officials yesterday found over two kilos of cocaine in a package that was destined for Canada at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri.

An airport source told Stabroek News that the discovery was made at around midday yesterday. 2.72 kilos of the drug was concealed in the package.

The source said that the package was bound for a destination in Toronto, Canada. The package was being scanned when the drugs were detected. The name of a woman was listed as the sender.

Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit ranks visited the Kitty address which was inscribed on the package but found no-one by that name living there. Investigations are continuing.
