(Antigua Sun) – Shondelle Natasha Beaton Licorish has pleaded guilty to remaining in Antigua and Barbuda after the expiration of a permit granted by the Immigration Department. The court ordered that she be removed from the state immediately.

The Immigra-tion Depart-ment is to facilitate her in collecting her personal effects.

On 19 June, immigration enforcement officers went on duty at a business place on South Street where they met Licorish. The officers identified themselves to the 35-year-old Guyanese national and told her they were conducting an investigation into the allegation that she remained in the state after the expiration of a permit. The immigration officers inquired of Licorish as to her status and were told that her passport was at home.

She accompanied the officers to her Golden Grove home where she presented them with a Republic of Guyana passport.

It was noted from the document that Licorish’s permit to remain in Antigua had expired since 22 July, 2008.

She was asked to go into the Immigration Department on Monday, which she did.

Licorish went to the Enforcement Department where she was told that she had committed an offence and would be charged. The Guyanese woman then gave a statement. Checks were made at the department and it was confirmed that she had been out of time since 23 July, 2008. Licorish was arrested and charged.
