St Agnes Nursery School to relocate

Pupils of the St Agnes Nursery School, located on Church Street, as well as students of two other nursery schools in the city are expected to move to another facility where the three institutions may be merged.

According to an education official, merging of the institutions is currently being contemplated by the Education Ministry since issues pertaining to the reclamation of the buildings which house several institutions in the city and parts of Region 2 have surfaced. The two other schools which may be merged with St Agnes Nursery are the St Peters Nursery School, located in Queenstown and the Kingston Nursery School.

This newspaper understands that the students of the Suddie Primary School at Cotton Field on the Essequibo Coast may also be relocated since the Anglican Diocese, which owns the building, has developed plans which require the use of the building.

Stabroek News spoke to an official at the St Agnes Nursery on Friday and she confirmed that the students of the school will have to relocate from the facility at the end of the current school term.

When asked for the reasons behind the relocation, she referred all queries to the Education Ministry.
