Thirty-seven-year-old Trevor Garraway was on Wednesday remanded to prison shortly after he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly choking and robbing a woman of a quantity of gold jewellery, among other items.

Garraway of Lot 36 Bent Street pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery with violence when Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson read it to him.

He denied that he used personal violence to rob Nandani Bissondyal of a handbag, a gold chain, a pair of gold earrings and a cell phone, totalling $62,500 in value on June 29.

Prosecutor Dennise Griffith informed the court this was not Garraway’s first offence. She said that he had been incarcerated for three years following a narcotics charge and since then Garraway had several other brushes with the law.
