Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson granted a 22-year-old butcher accused of assault $25,000 bail when he on Thursday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on June 20 at Georgetown, Imran Khan of 11 Austin Street, Campbellville assaulted Madan Kissoon so as to cause him actual bodily harm. Khan pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

Khan’s attorney Adrian Thompson applied for bail in a reasonable sum on the grounds that his client has a fixed place of abode, poses no flight risk, has no previous antecedents and has been cooperating with the police in their investigations.

The virtual complainant did not attend court.
Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram did not object to bail.
Khan was ordered to return to court on July 27.
