Biker charged over death of woman

A 23-year-old man, who allegedly caused the death of a West Ruimveldt woman by riding his motorcycle in a danger manner, was remanded to prison yesterday.

Colin Blackman, of 41 Roxanne Burnham Gardens pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing death by dangerous riding when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on July 1 at Middle Road, La Penitence, Blackman rode motor vehicle CE 7119 in a dangerous manner causing the death of Radha Escore.

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson refused Blackman bail and transferred the matter to Court Seven which deals with traffic matters. The accused is to face additional charges.

The 58-year-old woman of Lot 4 West Road, West Ruimveldt died last Wednesday night at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Reports were that the woman was struck down by a motorcyclist on Middle Road, La Penitence. She was subsequently rushed to the medical institution in an unconscious state where she later succumbed to her injuries.
