The charge of attempting to commit murder on City Mall businesswoman Dhanwantie Phulchand was yesterday read to a 16-year-old girl at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court who was later remanded to prison.

It is alleged that on July 4 at Georgetown, the teenager, with intent to commit murder wounded Dhanwantie Phulchand.

The defendant was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to her by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.

The virtual complainant (VC) was not in court as she is still hospitalised. The matter was called to the bench and a lengthy discussion ensued.

The unrepresented teen was remanded until July 27.

According to reports, Phulchand,  the proprietress of Rishma’s Fashion which is located in City Mall, was attacked in her boutique on Saturday afternoon and was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) in a stable condition.
