Army detects fake CXC certificates

-four officer cadets handed over to police
Four Officer Cadets of the Guyana Defence Force’s (GDF) Standard Officer Cadet course No. 42 have been handed over to the police for tendering forged CXC certificates to gain entry to the course. This is according to a press release yesterday from the GDF.

According to the GDF, the forgeries were unearthed during compulsory background checks, which are done for all new entrants. The investigations revealed that the four paid sums to various individuals ranging from $20,000 to $25,000 after they indicated a desire to have the forged certificates.

The release said that the sophisticated level of the forged certificates, which could go undetected by the unsuspecting, suggests an organised venture is in operation. The GDF is urging organisations and agencies to scrutinise CXC certificates and to authenticate them with the Ministry of Education.
