A 31-year-old man yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court accused of breaking another man’s nose.

On July 17 at Georgetown, Dwayne Kingston, 31, of 207 Meadow Brook Gardens unlawfully assaulted Julias Ross so as to cause him actual bodily harm.

The defendant had initially pleaded guilty to the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm when it was read to him by the acting chief magistrate. After his explanation, however, the magistrate entered a not guilty plea for him.

Ross who was not present in court was also charged for assaulting Kingston.

According to the unrepresented defendant, an argument ensued between him and Ross and  Ross snatched his chain which led to a scuffle.

At this point the magistrate entered the not guilty plea for Kingston since he said that it was Ross who had touched him first.

The self-employed Kingston was later placed on $30,000 bail and ordered to return to court on September 9.
