Thirty-three-year-old Ravindra Siew, of  Enterprise, East Coast Demerara, was yesterday charged with the July 19 murder of his 55-year-old mother Ramrattie Deonauth.

According to the police, Siew appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Issacs-Marcus at the Vigilance Magistrate’s court to answer to the capital offence and was remanded to prison until October 29.

A post–mortem examination was performed on the woman’s remains yesterday and her cause of death was given as multiple fractures to the rib.

The woman’s motionless body was found lying on her bedroom floor last Monday morning after she endured a beating allegedly at the hands of the accused which started last Sunday afternoon and continued later that night.

Deonauth will be cremated tomorrow at the Good Hope crematorium.
