Boy, six, killed in Brighton road accident

A six-year-old boy is now dead following an accident which occurred on Sunday night on the Corentyne.

According to a police press release, Ricardo Mc Bean of Brighton Village died in the accident that occurred at about 7 pm on Brighton Public Road, Corentyne. The police said that the driver of motor car HB 4497 was proceeding along the roadway when Mc Bean allegedly ran across the road into the path of the vehicle and was struck down. The child was taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced DOA.

The driver of the motor vehicle has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with investigations.
