Reading the facts of the case Police Prosecutor Telford said that Shellon Sancho was taken to CID Headquarters, Eve Leary after she was denied entry into Barbados on July 27. The accused had with her two suitcases and upon the searching of her baggage, a blue package with 2 kilograms, 954 grams of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking was found. The accused was then arrested and told of her charge.

An unrepresented Sancho had first pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her but later told the judge that she wanted to change her plea. The judge then re-read the charge to which Sancho pleaded guilty asking the judge to be lenient.

After noting the request by Sancho, Magistrate Octive-Hamilton handed down her judgement. A visibly shaken Sancho quietly accepted her judgement and left the courtroom hiding her face with her rag.
