Man stabbed at Robb St drinking spot

Two men, wounded in separate incidents, were admitted patients to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) yesterday morning.

Earl Jones, 45, was reportedly stabbed by a jealous friend at a popular Robb Street drinking spot early yesterday morning. Jones, of 37 Waterloo Street, Georgetown, sustained a stab wound to the abdomen and left side of his chest.

He told this newspaper that he, a friend and his female cousin were at a bar drinking. His friend, Jones alleged, has a “crush” on his cousin and got jealous after he saw them interacting. The man, according to Jones, suddenly pulled out “a sharp” and dealt him two stabs.

Jones was rushed to the medical institution and is currently a patient in the hospital’s Male Surgical Ward and, though in some pain, remained in a stable condition up to early last evening. Jones’ friend is yet to be picked up by police.

Meanwhile, a Kuru Kururu man was transferred to the GPH early yesterday morning after sustaining a chop to the left side face. Colin Williams was first rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and, a few hours later, was transferred to GPH for further medical attention. He has also been admitted to the Male Surgical Ward.

When Stabroek News visited the injured man yesterday afternoon he was conscious.  He appeared to be in a stable condition. The circumstances surrounding Jones’ wounding are still not known and the man is yet to give police a statement.
