A 14-year old girl was last evening a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being struck down on Regent Street by a motorcycle earlier in the afternoon.

The injured girl is Shafeeah Zamaluddin of Dowding Street, Kitty, who is nursing head injuries and bruises about her body, relatives told this newspaper.

The accident occurred at the junction of Regent and Camp streets at about 1:30 pm. According to reports, the girl was about to cross over to the northern side of Regent Street with three other relatives when she was hit by a motorcycle which was heading west along Regent Street. The motorcyclist had allegedly ridden through a red light.
After hitting the girl and dragging her for some distance, the motorcycle then collided with a nearby minibus depositing the teenager under the bus in the process, relatives said.

Relatives told this newspaper that after the accident, the girl appeared to be fine but was taken to a doctor for a check up.  Her condition seemed to worsen slightly later in the afternoon when she was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she underwent tests and subsequently admitted as a patient.
