GuyExpo, the national trade fair and exhibition has been scheduled to October 1.
This was confirmed by Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Manniram Prashad yesterday, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported, noting that the postponement is intended to accommodate a number of overseas delegations and visitors. The trade fair was originally slate to run from September 24 to September 29.

According to GINA, the Minister appealed to exhibitors to be understanding, especially with regards to the number of booths that would be available to them, noting that the maximum number available to a single exhibitor had to be restricted to eight as a result of the high demands and the variety of products to be exhibited and the need to accommodate the food court.  The 10 booths at the food court are expected to be displaying cuisines from a number of countries, among which will be Mexican and Brazilian foods.

GuyExpo is expected to be different this year with the request being made to facilitate a ‘Brazilian Night.’ Minister Prashad said that with the Takutu Bridge being officially opened by September 14, it is expected that there will be a large number of Brazilians for the event. Many Surinamese and Venezuelans are expected as well as large contingents from Jamaica and Barbados among others. Also accompanying this year’s Expo would be a business seminar, supported by the private sector and the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest).

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce has also planned a number of tours during this period to facilitate visitors who would like to further explore Guyana whilst here for the Expo, GINA said.
