The Venerable Cornell Jerome Moss, Archdeacon of Nassau and the Bahamas, was selected a Bishop by the House of Bishops of the Province of the West Indies  when they met from August 25-27.

He will  succeed the Right Rev. Randolph George who retired on December 31, 2008.

The consecration of the Rev. Moss  will take place in Guyana at St. George’s  Cathedral on December 8, 2009, a news release stated.

Bishops who will be attending are expected to arrive on December 6, and several priests from Dioceses of the Province are also expected to attend the consecration.

Meanwhile, on December 9 there will be a meeting here of the three houses of Provincial Synod – the House of Bishops, the House of Clergy and the House of Laity -  to elect the next Archbishop of the Province of the West Indies.

This selection, the release said, could not have taken place until the selection of the Bishop of Guyana , which complements the House of Bishops.
