“We don’t know where more to go, we search everywhere already”, Salimoon Rahaman said yesterday.
The mother of 10-year-old Ricky Jainarine, who remains missing almost three weeks after a boat incident in the Essequibo River that left his father and another man dead, had just returned from the river where she had continued the search yesterday.

After a number of such fruitless missions in the Essequibo River, the woman is yet to find any sign of her son.
The August 11 boat accident in the Essequibo River left Jainarine Dinanauth and Henry Gibson, both 45, dead, and Ricky missing. Yesterday the woman went on another search on Fort Island and another island. She found nothing.
She said that she has searched everywhere she could think about and today plans to visit the police to see if there is anything new in the investigations.  The police were with them on yesterday’s search.

The badly damaged boat that the two men and her son were in is at the Parika Police station and last week, army ranks had contacted Rahaman and taken photographs of the green paint markings on the bottom of the boat, which suggest that it may have collided with a boat that is painted green.

This bit of information is important as relatives of the men strongly believe that the men were robbed and killed by rogue coast guardsmen.  Members of the public had reported that following the August 11 incident the coast guardsmen’s boat was dry-docked for three days, a claim the army has not denied.
