Haslington man in teen attack still on the run

The police are yet to arrest the Haslington resident who stabbed 17-year-old Vanessa Collins even though he has reportedly been seen in his home village walking the streets.

Stabroek News has been told that the young man, who attacked and stabbed the Anns Grove resident early Saturday morning in Victoria, walks about freely in his village.

And the girl’s mother Annette Sam told Stabroek News yesterday that police from the Clonbrook Outpost contacted her on Monday and she gave them a statement. However, she said she did not witness the attack and the police have since asked Collins’ friend who was with her at the time to go into them and give a statement.

From all indications the friend did not report the incident to the police neither did family members and it was only after the police read of the incident in the press that they were able to contact the family.
