Steve’s Jewellery worker in custody over theft

An employee of Steve’s Jewellery was taken into police custody yesterday following reports that gold jewellery had been stolen from the store.

Steve’s Jewellery, which is located along Church Street, Georgetown deals in gold, silver, platinum, diamond and other precious stone jewels. Stabroek News understands that an employee allegedly stole two pieces. The discovery was made when the stored recordings of the activities in the store’s interior, done by strategically placed security cameras, were reviewed.

“It’s just a little misunderstanding Steve’s has with one of the employees,” a relative told Stabroek News last night outside the Alberttown Police Station. “This employee stole a gold bangle and a fine chain but it’s nothing major and we’re in the process of sorting things out.”

When Stabroek News visited the Alberttown Police Station shortly before 9 pm a group of friends, relatives and associates of Steve’s Jewellery was seen standing outside.
