The release said that the New Horizons Guyana programme is aimed at strengthening US ties with partner nations in Central and South America through combined quality of life improvement projects.  It said that over the last three months some 650 military personnel from the US including volunteer soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen, came to Guyana to engage in a $9 million project which included the renovation of a school building at Timehri, the construction of a health centre at La Penitence and the new Bel Air School.
