A 32-year-old North Sophia resident was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court accused of robbing a woman of a gold chain at knifepoint on America Street.

He subsequently told the court he was willing to recompense the virtual complainant.

Marvin Liverpool pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery under arms when Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson read it to him.

He denied that on September 12 on America Street he used a knife to rob Amanda Mohamed of a gold chain valued $56,000.

Mohamed, who was present in court, stated that she was walking along America Street when Liverpool approached her, took out a knife, placed it to her neck and snatched her gold chain. She said that he then fled the scene.

Prosecutor Kevin London stated that the chain was not recovered.

Liverpool then informed the court that he was willing to recompense Mohamed with money for the chain.

The magistrate then ordered that he be remanded to prison and that he appear in court tomorrow with the money to compensate Mohamed.
