Police investigating Agricola armed robbery

An Agricola businessman was on Sunday evening robbed of $600,000 and a gold chain was snatched from his wife after they were accosted by two gunmen while operating their shop.

In a press release issued on Monday police said investigations are continuing into the alleged armed robbery committed on Clifton Shackle, 52, of Second Street, Agricola, by two men with handguns, about 8.15 pm.

Shackle and his wife had been operating their shop when a gunman accosted them and ordered them to lie face down. The gunman then took the said sum from a drawer under the counter and relieved the man’s wife of her chain. They then made good their escape. No arrests have been made.
