PNCR mourns Almeida’s death

The PNCR yesterday expressed sadness over the death of Vice-President of the Republic of Cuba, Juan Almeida Bosque, who died on Saturday at the age of 82.

In a release the party said Almeida was well known to the people of Guyana as he visited this country on two occasions to foster and promote relations between Cuba and Guyana.  He became a well known and much liked member of that great group of Cuban leaders, the party said, who led the revolution to make Cuba truly independent and to put its people in full command of its national economy.

According to the PNC/R Almeida’s life was one dedicated to the poor and down trodden and he always exhibited discipline and courage. Apart from his brilliant political career he was also a well known musician and composed many well known Cuban songs.

The party said it is confident, that the name and reputation of Almeida will live always in the hearts of the Guyanese and Cuban people.
