Regional Chairman of Region Five, Harrinarine Baldeo along with other representatives from the region handed over the boat to the teachers and students.

He told this newspaper that the 21 students who attend the school would benefit from the service on a daily basis. The chairman also said that a transportation arrangement would have to be worked out for students who have to come from “up the river”.

The school, he said, now has a permanent head teacher

The President had made the promise following a request by parents when he visited the creek during the flood in January.

The parents related that the children were having a difficult time travelling to school, especially during the rainy season.

The boat which would be operated by a captain in the creek is equipped with an engine and would be in the care of the head teacher.
