PPP mourns passing of Cuban VP Almeida

The PPP extends condolences to the Communist Party of Cuba and the Cuban nation on the passing of Vice-President Juan Almeida Bosque.

In a press release the party said the January 1, 1959 triumph of the Cuban revolution was the turning point in the island’s political demographics and it “also provided signal encouragement to countries and leaders like ours who were simultaneously struggling for our own freedoms.”

The PPP said the bonds created then still exist today in the form of the continuous support the island provides to the government and people of Guyana. The party said it is conscious that much of that support has been made possible by the contributions of great revolutionaries like Senor Almeida.

The party therefore, extends condolences to the Cuban people and especially to former President Fidel Castro who has lost an irreplaceable comrade in Almeida.
