Progress is only possible through individual and collective sacrifices, the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) says.

Extending best wishes on the occasion of EID-UL-FITR to all Guyanese and in particular members of the Muslim community, the party also noted that the period marking the end of Ramadan highlights the plight of the poor both locally and internationally. “As is known, poverty is one of the scourges that all agree is important to eradicate, to have a better country and a better world,” the party said in a statement, adding, “The moral of this tradition teaches us to avoid being greedy and living above our means for it is a road of great problems and difficulties.”
