The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) said the current disruption of water supply on the West Coast Demerara is due to a power shortfall at production sites.

In a press release GWI said service to the area will restart when power supply is fully restored. The affected areas include ‘Look Out’, Grove, Hyde Park, Parika, Hydronie, Barnwell, Philadelphia, Vergenoegen, Le Destin, Ruby, Farm, Greenwich Park, Bushy Park, Good Hope, Orangestein, Groenveldt, Edinburg, Anna Catherina, De Willem, Zeeburg, De Kinderen and sections of Meten-Meer-Zorg.

During this period of interruption GWI is urging customers to desist from tampering with water mains and service connections. For updates customers are advised to contact GWI’s Customer Service Call Centre at telephone number 227-8701.
